As flat panel TVs have become larger, they pose a unique styling challenge. You want a base that is attractive, strong, low and wide, and which has lots of room to hide away the satellite or cable decoder, the surround-sound components and lots of other stuff. This example is done in Brazilian cherry (looks a lot like teak) and black walnut. All of the components go together with a series of interlocking sliding dovetail joints so there is interest everywhere. When the flat-panel TV is in place, that big hunk of glass fades into the background while the eye is drawn to this attractive and functional base. I make these in a variety of styles and sizes that fit nearly any decorating style and room size.
