This was a unique commission. One of my good customers came in one day with a really great, funky, animated sculpture she had purchased for her collection. The sculpture, called "The Swimmer", kicks its legs and flails its arms through a series of gears and levers when you turn a crank on the front. She wanted a proper display base. I kept the sculpture for some time until I finally hit upon the idea of two round surfaces held by a diagonal two-sided stand. I used bloodwood to create the look of waves flowing out of the spine of the stand. It worked like a charm and the swimmer now occupies an honored place in front of a large picture window.
