butterfly leaf table, walnut & silky oak.jpg
A butterfly leaf table is considered by many to be the most elegant of all table designs. This one is unique in that the legs move outward when the top is opened to provide more leg room under the table in both open and closed configurations. The butterfly leaf stores itself under the top yet is simple to deploy as can be seen in the next two pictures. I build these in many different sizes and styles so email or call if you would like a special design just for your home.

Here you can see the butterfly leaf stored under the table top and ready to be deployed for more table top space.

The butterfly leaf is hinged in the middle with hidden Soss hinges so nothing but the beautiful wood (figured black walnut in this case) shows when the leaf is fully deployed. It aligns itself with the two top pieces so all you need do is push the top halves together to lock the leaf in place. When you are ready to put the leaf away, just pull the two top pieces away from the leaf and lift one end of the leaf. It will fold itself and store itself under the table. Slick and very interesting to watch.

black oak burl & br. cherry hanging chest at a show..jpg
This four drawer chest is sure to evoke positive comments no matter where you place it in your home. The front is bookmatched black oak burl that looks like an oriental pen and ink drawing while the sides and legs are black oak and the top and surrounds are solid Brazilian cherry. The legs don't touch the top and are held to the sides by sliding dovetail ribs that allow this piece to sit properly even on out of level floors.

Blanket chests are one of the most functional storage items in any home setting. This one is also a knockout because every panel is bookmatched highly figured Oregon big leaf maple. The legs and top detail are bloodwood. Inside is a panel of solid Port Orford cedar which produces a rich, spicy aroma which you will love and the bugs hate.

large folding dining table store in these wall units in silky oak (lace wood) and black oak with book cases on top.jpg
Want something very special? These two wall units open to reveal a very large folding trestle style dining table. The trestle system folds up and fits into one wall unit while the very large top comes in two folding pieces that store in the other. When the table is set up, it will seat 14 to 16 people yet it will hide completely out of sight when you don't need it.

Here the table is deployed and ready for a whole bunch of lunch or dinner guests. It can also be separated into two tables, each with space for 8 to 10.

folding dining table in black oak and lacewood2.jpg
The folding trestle makes it easy to handle the base units. For use, the base units are taken out of the wall storage unit, unfolded and placed where desired in the room. Then the top units come out of the other wall storage unit, fold open in the middle with hidden Soss hinges and register onto pegs in the tops of the trestle bases. Once in place, the tables are very sturdy and rack free. This is a great solution for a great-room where you do not want large tables to take up entertainment space except when you need them.

maple & bloodwood coffee table 19.jpg
Here is an example of where simple, elegant style creates a stunning addition to a room. The graceful legs are curved on both sides and dovetail into bloodwood skirt pieces to support the highly figured bookmatched maple top. When seen in person, there is so much figure you have to touch the top to prove to yourself that it is really flat, not three dimensional.

massive outdoor table ready for shipment to be finished on site.jpg
Not all tables sit inside. This one is going to a large outdoor eating area that features a wood-fired pizza oven. The house is located near a historic California mission so the trestle is styled to complement that look. It will be finished on site.
