Stand for sculpture "the swimmer" of figured maple & bloodwood.
This was a unique commission. One of my good customers came in one day with a really great, funky, animated sculpture she had purchased for her collection. The sculpture, called "The Swimmer", kicks its legs and flails its arms through a series of gears and levers when you turn a crank on the front. She wanted a proper display base. I kept the sculpture for some time until I finally hit upon the idea of two round surfaces held by a diagonal two-sided stand. I used bloodwood to create the look of waves flowing out of the spine of the stand. It worked like a charm and the swimmer now occupies an honored place in front of a large picture window.

Two piece bookcase in figured maple w/ bloodwood inlay, awaiting delivery.
What sets this large bookcase apart is the two piece construction. It is so high that it would be hard to transport otherwise. Note the bloodwood inlay just above one of the lower shelves. That shelf and the one above it are fixed while the others are adjustable. The top comes loose from the base right at that lower fixed shelf so the unit is strong and manageable while looking for all the world like a single piece.

Two piece office armoire in figured maple.
To provide additional workspace, the top of the base pulls out with two drawers. The lower two drawers pull out from the stationary part of the base. The top with the doors lifts off of the base for ease of movement.

Two piece toy box/bookcase in br. cherry.
For a growing family with small children now, nothing beats a strong bookcase with a toy box built into the base that is handsome enough to place in the living room. As the kids grow, the unit morphs into a teenager's "stuff" holder ideal to be placed by the back door and then into an adult display case with a bookcase on top when the kids are off on their own.

Wall unit in black oak & silky oak (lacewood).
You can't beat the versatility of a wall unit that holds books, periodicals, newspapers and media while providing nice spaces for art.

small library chest in bookmatched black oak with bubinga details.jpg
Isn't this a beautiful addition to this lovely home office? Here the chest is black oak accented with bubinga. It is small enough to be scaled right for the space but makes a big statement when you enter the room.
